Course Outline

This document outlines the course and what to expect as you go through each session. It is intended for use by the trainers/facilitators.


First Session

The first session is an introductory session looking at the course, talking about how the parents on the course felt when they found out their child had a disability or special needs and how the course works.


Second Session

The second session looks at independence in the home.


Third Session

The third session looks at social activities and how parents can encourage their children to be independent at social occasions outside of the home.


Fourth Session

The fourth session looks at working and getting a job.


Fifth Session

The fifth session looks at having a home and getting married.


Sixth Session

The sixth session is the final session recapping the course.


Booklet for Parents

This document is a booklet for the parents to use throughout the course. It includes details of each session, questions to answer, space to write thoughts, ideas and questions. At the back of the booklet there is a problem and solution page and a page where the goals for the duration of the course can be written and the steps needed to be taken to meet that goal.
